16:00 Rabat

Rabat is a town in the Northern Region of Malta. Rabat is home to the famous Catacombs of St. Paul and of St. Agatha. These catacombs were used in Roman times to bury the dead as, according to Roman culture, it was unhygienic to bury the dead in the city Mdina and parts of Rabat were built on top of an ancient Roman city.

18:00- strolling along the promenade in Sliema

DO NOT PARK YOUR CAR IN SLIEMA!!! It’s so crowdy. I think we have searched for more than an hour for just a parking spot. But it was worth it. We stayed in a nice hotel among to the promenade.

Arrived At Malta

Arrived At Malta

00: 00 – Arrived at Luqa

After a three our flight from Brussels we arrived at the Airport of Luqa.

01:00 – Rented a car

Have you every drove on the left side of the road? Well, we didn’t. What an adventure. We had no idea which way Zurrieq was. We had some trouble with our maps. The street names on Google maps where in English. But the street names next to the road where in Maltese.

03:00 – We finally found the Airbnb

In Malta there are no house numbers, but house names. In Malta there are some fascinating customs and reasons behind the selection of house names. For instance, it is quite common for the Maltese to use the first Christian name of a husband and wife for their house name. Very nice! But interesting for tourists.

In the middle of the night, we’ve finally reached our destination. My mother and I were relieved.

04:00 – Goodnight

Time to go to bed in our Maltese village.
