What Your Wardrobe Needs When You Start Your Career in the Field of Behavioral Analysis

What Your Wardrobe Needs When You Start Your Career in the Field of Behavioral Analysis

There is a lot of excitement and anticipation that builds as you near the end of your degree program. If you’ve been studying for your online behavioral analysis degree at a prestigious school such as the University of Cincinnati, then there is no doubt you’ve put in your time and a lot of hard work. Rather than wait until you are actually holding your online BA degree in your hands, it’s never too early to start preparing yourself for your future career.

Most students think of preparation in terms of getting their resume ready, building up their contacts, and doing their best to network. These are all important, but this is also a great time to invest in a wardrobe that will have you interview-ready on a moment’s notice. Here’s a look at the key items you’ll need in your wardrobe as you get ready to enter the field of behavioral analysis.

Invest in One Suit

For many, the idea of dressing in a suit is something that makes you cringe, but the fact is that a suit is easily the most professional attire for an interview. Not only that, it will serve its place in your career. Even if you end up working in an environment that doesn’t require formal business wear, it’s still good to have a suit in your wardrobe. There could be meetings, conferences, and seminars. Because you aren’t looking to fill your wardrobe with suits, it’s a good idea to pick a neutral color such as black, brown, tan, navy, or gray.

Comfortable Shoes

For many working in the field, there is a lot of time spent on your feet, visiting different locations such as schools, clinics, hospitals, and even home visits. You need to be able to move around comfortably to work with your clients. A pair of comfortable shoes is ideal. While running shoes may not be acceptable, a nice pair of comfortable loafers with plenty of support will be just fine.

Basic Cardigans

As you visit all these different locations, you’re bound to run into temperature variances. Your first stop may be toasty warm while the next stop is freezing cold. It’s always a good idea to dress in layers, which means a lightweight cardigan is going to be your best friend. You can easily remove it or put it on depending on how you feel.

You’ll likely want to pick up a few of these so you’ve always got a couple options clean at any given time.

Think Business Casual

A good rule of thumb as you shop for everyday work appropriate clothing is to aim for business casual pieces. What this means is no jeans, leggings, or tank tops. You want to appear professional while still being comfortable.

There’s no time like the present to start building your career wardrobe, which means you’ll be ready to dive into the field the moment you graduate.
